The National Hurricane Center upgraded a depression in the southwestern Gulf to Tropical Storm Isaias in its 4 AM CDT advisory this morning. It expects Isaias to become a hurricane by Thursday and says hurricane watches will likely be needed for part of the northern U.S. Gulf coast later today. The Hurricane Watch Net (HWN) is following the storm closely. As of Tuesday evening the net was not active, but it was in monitoring mode.

If the net does activate, ARRL reports it will use 14.325 MHz USB during the day and 7.268 MHz LSB overnight. Those are good frequencies to have ready in your radio, and to keep clear while the net is running. If you live along the Gulf coast, follow the National Hurricane Center and your local emergency officials.
