Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) returns next weekend, October 16 to 18. It is the annual Scouting event where Scouts and Guides around the world talk to each other by amateur radio, and it has been running since 1958. ARRL says about 1.3 million people took part in 2023.

It is not a contest and there are no set hours, so you can get on whenever your station is ready. Listen for stations calling “CQ Jamboree” and give them a friendly contact, or team up with a local troop or club and let Scouts try the microphone. ARRL’s page lists the suggested Scout frequencies and how to register a station.
