New Gear: Icom IC-7110 HF/VHF/UHF Transceiver

I’ve had a soft spot for do-everything rigs ever since I started out, so the Icom IC-7110 caught my eye. Icom America posted its first look at the radio on August 29, and it was revealed at the Tokyo Ham Fair after appearing as a concept called the X-026 at Hamvention and Friedrichshafen. It covers HF, 6 meters, 2 meters and 70 cm, with SSB, CW, RTTY, AM, FM and D-STAR.

What I like most is the separate controller with a 4.3-inch touchscreen and spectrum scope, which should make it great for the car or a portable kit. It also adds dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and dual watch across HF and VHF/UHF. The top version is listed at 100 watts on HF and 6 m. There’s no internal tuner, and Icom hasn’t announced pricing or a ship date yet.
