Rainy Sunday at Treasure Lake: Starbucks First, Then Cabin Time

Sunday, October 11, woke up to a real soaker here in DuBois. The rain came down hardest around 7 am, and by the end of the day we’d gotten over an inch and a half. Temperatures sat in the low 50s most of the morning (about 53°F), creeping up to a high near 60°F in the afternoon. Not exactly deck weather.

First things first: coffee

Rain or shine, my day starts the same way: a cup of coffee from Starbucks. It’s my standard routine every single day, at home or on the road, and vacation is no exception. So before anything else, I made the short drive out to the Starbucks on Midway Drive, wipers going the whole way.

Staying in at the cabin

Coffee in hand, it was back to the cabin for a slow day in. Katy, Ollie and I stayed dry inside and watched the rain roll across Treasure Lake from the deck doors. The umbrella stayed closed and the grill got the day off, but honestly, the lake looks pretty good in the rain too.

Some days on the road are about seeing everything. Others are about coffee, a warm cabin, and the sound of rain on the lake. Today was the second kind, and we’re not complaining.
